Community Benefit Fund
We are excited to offer an industry leading Community Benefit Fund of £8,000 per MW per year (index-linked) for the operational lifetime of Foel Fach Wind Farm (up to 40 years).
We are working closely with Mantell Gwynedd and CVSC (Community and Voluntary Support Conwy) to explore ways to ensure that this fund is appropriately set up so that it meets local needs, and that the application process is straightforward. To support our commitment to working together, Mantell Gwynedd, CVSC and Foel Fach Wind Farm Limited have signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding which sets out how we would all wish to work together to deliver the fund.
Shared ownership
The Plaid Cymru-led Welsh Government has promised to require renewable energy developers to offer a minimum community ownership stake of between 15 and 25%, an equivalent local-benefit model, Wealth Fund payment, or corresponding means of capturing community benefits for all energy projects over 10 MW, as a key condition of consent (Plaid Cymru. 2026. For Wales 2026 Manifesto).
We are pleased to be working in partnership with Community Energy Wales to develop a community ownership model where local residents, businesses and community groups would be able to buy shares in the wind farm and receive a return on their investment. Up to 15% of the project will be available for shared ownership.
