Foel Fach team preparing for pre-application consultation
14 August 2025
The project team has been busy this year continuing to undertake assessments and surveys as we develop our draft plans for Foel Fach Wind Farm, for example:
- ornithological surveys assessing the presence of birds, including curlew and Red Kite
- archaeological surveys
- peat probing to check for the presence and depth of peat across the site
- ecological surveys assessing habitats and the presence of mammals, reptiles and insects
- we’ve been out to key residential properties near to the site to install monitoring equipment to assess the background noise levels.
Since the informal consultation at the end of last year, we’ve continued to speak to local people, farmers, neighbours and elected members. These conversations have provided useful local information and feedback on our plans.
All of this information has been used to make changes to the draft site design we shared at the end of last year. We have now finalised our draft design and are preparing for the statutory pre-application consultation, which we aim to hold in November. Between now and then we will be writing the draft Environmental Statement which is a key document for the planning application.
What to expect during the pre-application consultation
The pre-application consultation is a statutory process which must last for at least 42 days. During that time our full, draft planning application will be available for people to read and comment on. We will:
- publish the full draft planning application on this website
- consult with statutory consultees
- inform local residents of the consultation and invite residents to attend consultation events in Cwmtirmynach, Sarnau and Bala where residents will be able to view a 3D computerised model of the project, speak to the team and provide feedback
- provide a user-friendly virtual exhibition and an online feedback form on this website for people who are unable to attend the in-person events
In the meantime, if you have any questions about the project, please get in touch.
